The ZEBRA print
The ZEBRA print
There are so many ANIMALIER PRINTS around, yes you know zebra, leopard, tiger whatever, prints that looks like the fur of wild animals. Unfortunately I look a little too much into the details to appreciate most of them, probably because I'm a printmaker myself and I don't see any point in creating something that already exists.
It's like copy and paste each other, into total boredom.
So for the AW19 collection of 5PREVIEW I wanted to make a zebra print. If you google “vector zebra print” a lot of terrible things comes up, so I did like I usually do – I work with my hands. I used normal tissue paper, the one that you get your clothes wrapped in if you buy them in “exclusive” stores. Or that sometimes is wrapped around bouquets. I tore it apart and the stripes became quite zebra like. To rip this kind of paper is not supereasy, you can not really control the result. But I ripped a lot, and then I scanned it in high resolution, I just love when you can see the little “not straight” borders, where you can almost feel the softness of the ripped paper. Thats how this zebra print was born! With a little story it becomes more alive, doesn't it? //Emeli
